#project86 - 1:10.8888

We’ve reached a new milestone in #project86 this week. When I bought this car I thought it would be really cool to try dip into the 1:10’s on stock power, no intake, no exhaust and dead stock power levels. A few weeks ago I wasn’t sure if it was possible (for me) but after a couple of reference laps of a 1:10.78 set by Boz last week the goal was achievable again. After studying the data I went out and set my new PB, a 1:10.8888

Unfortunately the GoPro died in the third session which i did the 1:10.8 in so here is a 1:11.0 from the previous session. There’s a few obvious errors here to tidy up perhaps suggesting a low to mid 1:10 on a cleaner lap.

It really is interesting to see what a near stock 86/BRZ can do in the right hands. Unfortunately since they were released 9 years ago the ZN6/ZC6 has been plagued with comments and complaints of how slow they are. Given that #project86 is within spitting distance of the new GR Yaris around Wakefield Park with similar mods may we see a slight attitude shift? Only time will tell.

I would love to throw another set of tyres at the car and have another crack in it’s current spec before adding any power. The R888R’s currently on the car previously lived on the Trackschool hire 86 and i’ve now done 2 days and 1000km on them so they’ve definitely seen better dsays.

For anyone interested here is the current mod list:

MCA blue coilovers

Enkei RPF1 17x9 +35
