#project86 V2 Feature
So it’s been a little while since I did the V1 feature of #project86 and I feel like i’m about done with this stage of the car, so why not do a new feature! If you’re new here I strongly encourage you to check out the V1 feature first!
As always, I will hyperlink as much as possible to get you where you need for more info on a product!
Lap times:
I haven’t had a chance to properly campaign the car in this trim just yet due to lockdown but my current PB’s are as follows.
SMSP GP: 1:51.4
Wakefield Park: 1:09.3
Exterior:
Aesthetics is not something I've ever really given much thought or energy (If it doesn't make the car faster or drive better i’m not overly interested) but over the last lockdown I tracked down some non-go fast bits. After all, if you can’t go fast, look fast!
Engine Safety:
This hasn’t changed at all since V1, it was my number 1 priority when I first bought the car to get all the safety in place so the car could run all day.
Morosso sump baffle
Driveline:
I had so much fun driving V1 of #project86 but it was time for more power. After a cracking a 1:10.1 at Wakefield on factory power we were fairlllyyy close to the limit without going silly with tyre choice. We spoke to Tyler at PVS and looked into our options and this is what we came up with.
Tomei Overpipe
Revolution Intake (For baller points, the car was tuned with the standard intake)
Torque solutions gearbox mount insert
Whiteline diff mount inserts
Standard front pipe and catback to keep it quiet
Steering and suspension:
The ZN6/ZC6 is already awesome from the factory but there's no hiding the fact that there isn’t a whole lot of adjustment in the stock arms and some of the rubber used in the bushings is abit soft and flimsy so this is what I did.
Brakes:
I’ve always said that the standard braking system is more than capable for hard track driving and a BBK is a waste of money for 90% of people. That said, there are definitely gains to be had from a good brake caliper upgrade and the biggest thing that blew me away with this setup was the linearity of pressure coming on and off the brake.
Prototype racefix brake master cylinder stopper
Wheel and tyre:
This setup has remained mostly unchanged from V1. The only change has been a slight increase in tyre size - i’m still not convinced the pros outweigh the cons of this for an NA car though. I’ve been over the moon with the setup so I haven’t felt the need to change.

Interior:
Again this portion hasn’t changed much at all from V1 with the exception of the headunit and a guage. We will be adding some more fun bits with V3 of #project86 to not only make it safer but also more comfortable and liveable.

Gutted rear interior
So thats about all really. From the quick SMSP night last week the car feels like a bit of a weapon and i’m really looking forward to doing a couple more days to wrap the year up. I’ve got my sights on a 1:08 at Wakefield and going under a 1:50 at SMSP before starting on V3 of #project86 where shits about to get real!
I have to say a massive thank you to the people and business who have helped get this car to where it is and continue to help us with feedback and advice to get the car going quicker every time we hit the track!
