Tim Brook - Round 1 Trans Am. Symmons Plains.

Round 1 saw Tim Brook load the number 38 Wall Racing Mustang and cross the Tasman Sea for Symmons Plains, Tasmania. A podium on debut has left Brook optimistic for the rest of the season.

“Our pace out of the gate at Symmons Plains was really encouraging, especially because it’s a circuit we hadn’t been to before and didn’t have a lot of knowledge of the car,” he said.

“The cars are very different to what I used to drive so the more experience I get in it the more time we should find.”

“There is also a bit of work for us to do just understanding the car and make sure we’re unlocking its full potential.”

Brooks push for a podium wasn’t without dramas with a misfire cutting his qualifying session early and forcing him to retire from race 1.

The crew got the Mustang back to it’s best, ready for race 2 which Brook elected to start from pitlane before making up 12 spots finishing P6.

That charge continued in race 3 with Tim climbing to P3 in the 26 lap race, matching the times of the front runners.

“The quality of drivers at the front of the field is very, very good, so to be not too far away from them already is a real positive,” Brook said.

“Once we got on top of the problems early in the weekend we had good speed, so we’ll look to be up in the top five when we get to Phillip Island in a few weeks.”
