Round 6 - NSW Supersprint #project86

Last night I popped my competitive driving cherry and made my way out to round 6 of the NSW Supersprint at Sydney Motorsport Park.

I ended the night P2 in class (RM2) with a time of 1:52.7 which is a Natsoft PB so here’s a quick recap!

Session 1:

As i’ve alluded on the racefix facebook and instagram pages i’ve made a couple of changes to the car since our last SMSP outing, those being a new racetech seat, Sabelt wheel and a cusco 4.56 final drive (full article will be coming on this after i’ve run it at Wakefield this Sunday, spoiler it’s bloody awesome) so session 1 was spent getting a feel for the new setup and what gear to be in, when. I was driving pretty messy and not using all of the road where I should have been. Finished the session with a 1:53.8, not a bad time all things considered but a couple of seconds where I want to be.

Session 2:

Getting more comfortable with the setup now. Clocked a 1:52.7 but found the rear was quite taily. Came in and dropped 2 pound out of the rear tyres and softened the rear shocks 5 clicks.

Session 3:

Tried a low fuel run to test where I would start seeing fuel surge. The answer was on the first flyer so that was a throw away.

Session 4:

Unfortunately with the amount of red flags throught the night session 4 was cut to just 2 laps and with crap all over the road through T1 it wasn’t much of a session. I did find the rear more settled in the limited running I did.

How did the 4.56 final drive go?

As I said earlier I will do a full post just on the diff after I get more dat but in short, it’s awesome! We’ve always known we were abit low on top end power (standard exhaust from the behind the headers) and sitting it on the limiter in 5th for 100m coming into T1 really highlights that. Luckily there’s a solution to that and we’re chatting with Tyler from PVS about how to best go about getting that sorted and making the most out of this new diff!

Long story short it was a great night with some awesome takeaways and testing. Looking forward to further dialling myself and the car in and getting that 1:49 on the Zestino.
