The racefix 86 goes to Wodonga.

What a weekend. It started on Saturday arvo when Boz and I hit the road and pointed down the hume for Victoria. We hit pretty shitty conditions about an hour out of wodonga and I quickly learnt my tyres weren’t cut out for standing water on a highway. Boz was having his own fun keeping his block of flats in a straight line as the wind blew across the road. We arrived at the logic centre and did some setup before heading to the pub and calling it a night.

I was on double duties on Sunday, shooting for trackschool in the morning and driving my car all afternoon. Wodonga is an awesome track. Pretty difficult and it makes you really think about your lines in a non-conventional way. I managed 61 laps with a best of 1:00.5, boz jumped in and went 6 tenths quicker with a 0:59.99. Mega fun track that with a great atmosphere that everyone needs to have a crack at atleast once.

We packed up at Wodonga, loaded the van and headed for Goulburn.

I wasn't going to drive at wakefield, I was running timing for Trackschool. If the car felt alright I was going to throw Boz in the car as a baseline to see what it could do. That went out the window as I got a little carried away and ended up doing 50something laps. The best I could manage was a 1:13.2 with Boz 6 tenths ahead (the same margin as wodonga) with a 1:12.6. I had Timmy Brook jump in with me to give me some pointers on where to find the time, unfortunately I couldn’t put a lap together after that but I now know where i’m having issues, particularly over the hill. The easy fix would be to rip the Goodride Sport Rs’s off and throw the r888r’s on but i’ll go back next week and get my 1:12 and then throw some half decent tyres on and pick up some front end grip.

A massive thankyou to Boz for having me along and always being supportive of my driving. A big shoutout to timmy as well for taking the time to sit next to me and fix some of my driving errors. It’s not often you get an 86 series champion in the car next to you so i'm forever grateful.
